Shop for School Tax-Free before School Begins; Virginia Sales Tax Holiday is August 1–3
July 21, 2014

School supplies selling for $20 or less per item and articles of clothing, including footwear, selling for $100 or less per item will be exempt from sales tax during the Virginia Sales Tax Holiday scheduled for Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 3.

Families with children in Prince William County Public Schools are encouraged to take advantage of these savings to prepare their students for the upcoming school year. Check your school’s Web site or call your school for a copy of the 2014–15 supply list. For a directory of schools, go to pwcs.edu and click on “Schools,” then select the directory by grade level.

Beginning July 28, SPARK, the Education Foundation for PWCS, will collect school supplies at the Kelly Leadership Center to help ensure that all student have the back-to-school basics they need to return to school ready to learn. The Kelly Leadership Center is located at 14715 Bristow Road, Manassas, VA 20112
Most-needed items include backpacks, 3-ring binders, tabbed dividers, folders with pockets, spiral notebooks, loose-leaf paper, colored pencils, pencil boxes/bags, tissues, hand sanitizer, marble composition books, ink pens (blue or black), No. 2 pencils, washable markers, crayons, highlighters, glue/glue sticks, rounded scissors, index cards, and graph paper.

New Student Registration
New student registration for the 2014-15 school year begins Thursday, May 1, 2014 and runs until the end of June. Registration resumes in August. An appointment is necessary, please contact Mrs. Kristine Bucci to set up an appointment at 571.402.3500 or buccika@pwcs.edu.

New Student Orientation Sessions 2014-15
All students and parents who are new to Ronald Wilson Reagan Middle School are invited to attend one (1) of our new student orientation programs:

Orientation sessions will provide important information about school programs and will feature presentations by key staff members. Parents and students will have the opportunity to tour the school building. Parents will also have an opportunity to purchase physical education attire for $15.00. Cafeteria staff will also be present to accept payments for student cafeteria accounts. Officers from the Ronald Reagan Middle School Parent-Teacher-Student Organization (PTSO) will be available to discuss volunteer opportunities and accept membership applications. Each orientation session will begin promptly in the student's assigned homeroom class.

Fall Athletic Tryouts
Tryouts for fall sports will begin Thursday, September 4, after school. Students who are interested in trying out for a fall sport should report to the gym and must have a current athletic physical (completed after May 1 of this year) and concussion training completion certificate on file with the athletic coordinator, Mr. Jonathan Bukva.

The school will hold face-to-face concussion training sessions on August 27 and September 3 in the school gym at 6 p.m. on both nights. Students who have previously completed a face-to-face concussion training session in a Prince William County middle school may complete their training online. Athletic physicals and online concussion training completion certificates may be submitted to the school's front office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. or to the athletic coordinator during school hours.

Back-to-School Nights 2014-15
Ronald Wilson Reagan Middle School will hold Back-to-School Night sessions for the 2013-14 school year according to the following schedule:

6th Grade - September 16, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
7th Grade - September 18, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
8th Grade - September 23, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

From 6:30-7 p.m., the school will hold an open house where parents can visit their child’s music and physical education teachers, turn in Parent Portal registrations, purchase physical education attire, set up lunch accounts, or visit the school book fair. At 7 p.m., parents will report to their child's homeroom class and follow their student's schedule for the remainder of the evening. Questions about these sessions should be directed to the Reagan Middle School front office at 571.402.3500.
